A Brief Look Inside Our Homes

Life is a Beach Program: Our youth at House of Love 2 have been doing well learning the struggles and difficult expenses in life through paying fake bills and rent. This program has provided a unique experience for one of our youth who learned how difficult it gets when bills are not paid on time. It was a learning experience for all the young youth as they found a fake eviction notice on the young woman’s door giving her one week to pay 3 months of unpaid rent. After learning how expensive late fees can get, staff was able to have this young woman put together a budget. Through this unique program, our young women are able to learn the consequences of late fees and missed bills before ¯they age out and are on their own.

Nursing home: The youth have started a new volunteer program adopting a grandparent and volunteering at a local nursing home. One "Grandma" has stood out to these girls and they have been able to connect with her and share life stories. The girls are excited to continue this volunteer experience giving back to others.

Adopt a State: The youth have been working to better understand our country. Along with staff assistance, the youth have all chosen a state to adopt to learn more things about this state in comparison to Wisconsin. They are completing a drawing of the state including information from the capitol, major cities, state flower, nick name, tree, bird and famous people from the state. The youth have chosen Nevada, California, Michigan, Georgia and New York to adopt.
